The learning from the DIPECHO III was instrumental in designing DIPECHO V project giving empathized community empowerment as well as advocacy for enabling policy environment. The project 'Building safer community through disaster management initiatives’ was implemented in five districts for 16 months from November 2007 under a funding support of the European Commission through its Humanitarian Aid department. The project's specific objective was to contribute towards building safer communities through disaster management initiatives by enhancing communities’ awareness, empowering them and enhancing the capacity of stakeholders
