Kanchanpur district, Bhimdatta Municipality ward no. 9 and 10 and Mahakali Municipality ward no. 1,4,6,9 and 10. Dadeldhura district, Bhageshwar Rural Municipality ward no. 1 and Parshuram Municipality ward no. 4,5,6,7 and 12. The Mahakali River Inclusive Community Based Disaster Risk Reduction Project is a two-year (July 2017-June 2019) project implemented by Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) with the support from American Red Cross. The overall goal of the project is to strengthen the capacity of vulnerable communities, along the lower portions of the Mahakali River, so that they are better able to manage and respond to risks posed by natural hazards. The project’s efforts are on multiple hazards (floods, landslides, earthquakes, fires, cold waves) identified in communities across three pillars, which include community preparedness, school disaster safety, and NRCS capacity enhancement. The project is implementing in 20 communities of Kanchanpur and Dadeldhura district.
