National-Level Multi-Stakeholder Workshop on Localisation of Humanitarian Action

Main Purpose

The purpose of the workshop is to discuss localization of disaster response. This aims at a common understanding in line with the Grand Bargain. The workshop will discuss practical issues and priorities for the localization discourse in Nepal in the context of federalization.

  • 9:45-10:00 Objectives and remarks from Valerie Julliand, UN Resident Coordinator
  • 10:00-10:30 Presentation by Jeremy Wallard, ICVA, on localization and context at the global level
  • 10:30-11:15 Panel discussion with representatives from MoFAGA, Tearfund, AlTP Consortium and ICVA to briefly given an overview of localization efforts in Nepal
  • Moderator: Hast Bahadur Sunar
  • 11:15-12:30 Breakout session: the participants will be split up into three groups for more in-depth thematic discussion, see handout
  • 12:30-13:30 LUNCH
  • 13:30-14:15 Breakout group chairs report on thematic discussion findings, followed by Q&A
  • 14:15-14:30 Taskforce is formed
  • 14:30-15:00 Presentation Tearfund/ALtP Consortium presents on localization in Nepal, followed by Q&A
  • 3:00-3:15 Wrapping up and closing remarks by the Joint Secretary of MoHA
