Strengthening Livelihood Capacities to Disaster Risk Reduction in Nepal
This book documents the lessons learned during the project implementation in Nepal. It describes the prevailing physical, institutional and socio-economic context, and details the activities and its interventions. This book is a compilation of initiatives and their evaluated outcomes on improved and diversified livelihood strategies, including the adoption of new income earning opportunities which has increased incomes and food security, and improved health and resilience of targeted communities while reducing their exposure to prevailing and future hazards.

Early Warning Saving Lives - Establishing community based early warning systems in Nepal. Learning & Experience 2002-08
Practical Action has been working on community based EWS (early warning systems) in Nepal since 2002 - specifically on systems which give early warning of flood. As a result of its own learning, on-going community feedback, and “real time” evaluation, Practical Action has become convinced of a number of key issues.This publication summarises Practical Action’s learning in EWS and offers practical insight in to how such systems can be replicated and developed elsewhere.
