The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) is a global humanitarian and development organization that has provided humanitarian relief and implemented development initiatives since 1956. ADRA works in more than 130 countries to bring long-term development solutions and immediate emergency response to communities through a network of global offices. ADRA has worked in Nepal since 1987 and is experienced in working with vulnerable communities both in urban and rural context to mitigate the threats posed by natural disaster and climate change and build their capacity to adapt. ADRA works with communities and institutions to enhance their resilience to disasters and is experienced in implementing number of projects in this regard. It promotes urban resilience through school-based DRR as well as community-based disaster risk management (CBDRM) approaches. It is also supporting the GoN’s efforts to translate the Sendai Framework of DRR (SFDRR) into practice. It promotes extensive engagement of communities and institutions in risk management, preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery.
