CADRE II is a three-year (Nov 2016- Oct 2019) project built upon learning and work done during the CADRE I project, which ran from 2012 to 2015. Supported by the U.S. Agency for International Development’s Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance (USAID/OFDA) with additional funding from the American Red Cross, this project being implemented by Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) aims to enhance community- based first responder capacity in 50 communities across five districts of Nepal (Makwanpur, Sarlahi, Baglung, Kailali and Doti). The project includes developing instructors and community responders (community level first aid, search and rescue team), equipping them to respond to emergencies, establishing provincial CADRE learning resource centers. In addition, this project support in strengthening local-level disaster response mechanisms through formation of response committees, conducting simulation, preparing response plan and advocating for the inclusion and roll-out of CADRE training as part of the Nepal Government’s national DRR plans.
