UNFPA works in strengthening public institutions and community capacities increased to prevent and respond to GBV. Under this outcome the program strengthens national and Local (Provincial and Municipal) capacity to prevent and respond to gender-based violence. This will be accomplished through prepositioning GBV prevention commodities, integration of GBV within the health response in emergencies in its plan and policies and its dissemination and advocacy for enhanced data collection and analysis to enable appropriate targeting. UNFPA Humanitarian Program focuses mainly on key 5 areas:
- Develop/update and implementation of DRM Policies, Plans and guidelines incorporating SRH and GBV prevention issues
- Capacity building of service providers and stakeholders
- Strengthening coordination mechanism at Federal and Sub-national level
- Prepositioning of commodities for SRH and GBV prevention during emergencies
- Advocacy and sensitization to mainstream SRH and GBV for emergency preparedness and response
