CARE Nepal has contributed significantly to GoN’s Disaster Risk Reduction Management and Disaster Risk Reduction Management Plan. CARE Nepal works closely with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA), Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development; Ministry of Education; Ministry of Women Children and Social Welfare (MoWCSC); Ministry of Urban Development, Ministry of Education and other stakeholders to influence in creating new ones or implementing existing policies, practices and provisions related to Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) so that at-risk vulnerable communities are assisted in addressing the causes of vulnerability.

Education cluster at national level is bridging the collaborative action among Ministry of Education, Department of Education and Non-Government organization to develop and implement policy, guideline and strategy to implement it. CARE Nepal is jointly collaborating with CCDRR consortium and Education cluster to advocate DRR curricula at national level and develop local level curricula in district level. In Kailali local curricula is developed and in Makawanpur it is in progress. Focal teacher and head teacher are responsible to develop and update School contingency plan and School Improvement Plan. They are also responsible to implement locally developed curricula in their respective schools and this has been done by building the capacity of school focal teacher and head teacher in 8 schools.
