Promoting and strengthening DRR and school safety is a project being implemented by Child Centered Disaster Risk Reduction Consortium (CCDRR) in which World Vision International Nepal, Save the Children, Plan International Nepal are implementing partners and UNICEF is a strategic partner.
The 21 months project which started in May 2017aims to increase the resilience of children, communities, as well as government in education, protection and disaster management sectors in Nepal are better prepared for and able to respond to natural hazards. The activities build on the learning from previous DIPECHO VIII implemented by the Child Centered Disaster Risk Reduction (CCDRR) consortium. The consortium works with government to incorporate DRR into the School Sector Development Plan (SSDP) and Teacher Professional Development (TPD). The project has rolled out TPD module for teachers on school safety, which was piloted in 62 schools in six districts.
