CARE as a humanitarian organization has a humanitarian mandate to respond to any natural and manmade disasters and humanitarian crisis. CARE has responded to disasters of varying scales like fire, cold waves, flood, landslides, earthquake etc. to save lives of affected people and help them recover better off than they were before the disaster. The rapid humanitarian interventions carried out by CARE Nepal in last five years include 2014 landslides and floods response in 6 districts of Far and Mid-Western Nepal, 2015 Gorkha earthquake response in all the earthquake affected districts funded by different RRF and donors and 2017 flood in three districts. The key interventions sectors during both these disaster responses include shelter, WASH, FRI and NFRI, livelihood and recovery, protection, health, GBV, food security and nutrition.
