Flood Recovery Project (2017-2020)

VSO Nepal started this project in September 2017 in the wake of disastrous monsoon flooding in the Terai. With financial support of DFID, VSO deployed volunteers and staff in three municipalities of Rautahat District, working closely with local partners to respond to the disaster, accelerate community-led recovery, and help to build lasting resilience to multi-hazard risk. A key facet of this work was identification of the area’s most marginalized families and their involvement in community-based planning initiatives and income generation activities.

Project Objectives:

Adapting to Climate Induced Threats to Food Production and Food Security in the Karnali Region of Nepal
